Bite smiled with a little twinkle in her eye. She thought about how best to respond to his invitation when she decided that a response wasn't exactly needed. Shifting her weight she nudged him under the chin and spun in the opposite direction. As she took off in to the forest she called out a playful "You're it!" over her shoulder, letting her laughter follow her in to the shadows.

That imp! A smirk, a half-laughing challenge wresting from his throat, and he began the chase; for all that he was not nearly so limber, he still moved with the silence of surefooted daring.

He thought, for an instant, that he saw her through the haze of trees - a flash of vibrant green, a flicker of ombre red, there and gone again. She was good, very good, but he'd expected as much; perhaps he could use his experience to his advantage, however. A careful flick of a hoof and a moss-coated stone went flying, clattering off on the other side of her as he attempted to shadow her. Hopefully it would fool her into turning towards him, assuming it a mistake.

He went unseen in that moment, alone in the forest save his 'prey,' yet he was a sight to behold indeed. His eyes gleamed, his neck arched, his mouth twisted in an anticipatory smirk. He was, for Thorn at least, being an extrovert; the numb apathy seemed to have been shrugged off for the admiration of her movements and the joy of the chase.

His bondmates would scarcely recognize him; no longer disenchanted with life, nor hope beaten from him, no longer a hard knot of thorns, he was instead a vibrant red bundle of life at the center of defensive armor.

Not that he'd ever admit it; not that he was even aware of it. He was, as far as he knew, simply relishing the chase of a beautiful and fascinating mare.

Or so he was willing to acknowledge.
