Frolic in the Rain

swimming in the undercurrents Sparkle watched Amber's hooves as she moved away from him. grinning, he hid behind a rock to get some air and then swam up behind her, something that was being made harder as they were getting closer to the waterfall. hopefully she hadn't seen him but even if she had he'd make it fair and surface for the tag. crawling along the river bottom he moved toward the shadow she cast in the water, hoping that he might finally get the upper hand....or hoof.
surprised, Sparkle kicked his legs randomly, and just in time to avoid Amber as she came rocketing up where he'd just been sitting. he laughed and then dove under as well, racing upstream for all he was worth, letting his nose surface occasionaly for a quick breath. once the current wasn't as bad he twisted and dove deeper, down where the light couldn't reach as well and mentally dared the mare to try and find him. boy, he'd surprise her! if his breath could hold out.
She surfaced and took along breath. She shook her main so the water drops would stop making ripples that could hid Sparkls movment. She was so close. Oh, well this was really fun. She spotted him when we turned and went up stream.
Amber dove in and started up stream against the strong current. She was determind to catch him. Surfaceing ever couple minutes and take a breath and to see is she could catch him taking his.
After a couple of minutes of going up stream, the current didn't seem as stroung as before. Amber could dive deeper if she wanted to. First though she would take a little rest. She found a spot where she could stand and not lose her balence. As she was cathching her breath her eyes were scanning the water for even a slight movment that could give him away. Her ears swivwled around as she listened for any sound, a splash or a gasp for air.
