"There's my proof," He stated casually, the words rolling off his tongue like dew sliding down a blade of grass. He tossed his forlock from matching eyes and cast her a fairly large grin.

"You've been watching me."

She had won the battle, but he won the war.

Ether smothered his grin and puffed out his chest, flaunting himself with a saucy whip of his tail. He then took her mischief making to the next step, planning to top off the charms with a little dash of his own teasing.

Long strides brought him passed her, his side connecting with her shouldering and brushing down to her haunches, where he quickly snaked his head and lipped at her tail. The blue stallion paused there, with her tail hanging from his mouth and looking back at her, before he released and continued walking on, still brushing by her until he was completely past her.

He kept walking calmly; long, even strides carrying him slowly across the ground.

Her mouth opened and closed again as she blinked. That wasn't proof was it? Watching somsone didn't mean you were giving them a look did it? No, it most certainly did not. She narrowed her eyes playfully and was about to speak when he began to prance over to her. Silenced by her surprise, she would have raised a brow but instead feigned indifference.

When he snaked along her she grinned and flicked at him with her tail, only to have it caught in his mouth. When he let it loose, she flicked his rump and turned in place to see where he was off to. She knew he was playing his game to get her attention, but she could give in and let him win a little bit.

"Leaving without me?" She fake pouted, ears perked with intrigue as her tail lazily swayed behind her.

"I don't think you would. You would miss me." She stated simply, rather arrogantly even. But for a show mare, it was understood where this confidence came from. However, this wasn't a show, and she wasn't acting, she just generally enjoyed the stallion's presence.

"Thats a good point."

He stopped and turned toward her, analyzing her quickly before parting his lips in speech once more, "But I'm thinking you would miss me more."

He was jumping to conclusions once more, but he was testing the waters so he could see just how far this thing between them would go. She was just as erratic and charming as he was, but time would tell if this was good or bad.

Her features softened when he admitted his affection for her. It wasn't something to be taken lightly, especially considering his charming and playful nature. It was serious, and his question made her smile despite herself. She trotted up to him from the side and placing her head against the smooth thickness of his neck.

"Maybe a little." She admitted quietly, closing her eyes and breathing in and out once before opening them again. It was hard, admitting that she actually had an emotional tie to someone. She'd spent her entire life being unattainable and had been taught to enjoy that life. It had been easy to lead hearts along a string behind her and then just cut them loose.

This wasn't easy. And this time she actually wanted the attention. Well, she always wanted it, but this was different. She wanted it on a more personal level, not for any sort of satisfaction or ego boost, just because... well... she didn't want to be the only one with these feelings. She was afraid of his rejection. How strange life had become.

His heart took a few unsteady thumps deep beneath the rippling muscles of his chest, before he forced himself to settle. What was this? Was Ether nervous?

Had this mare finally forced him to lose his cool?

Ether stomped those thoughts almost angrily inside his head before his muzzle carefully grazed her shoulder, running along the fairy-like features on her shoulder, returning her gesture of affection. A deep sigh was given, voicing his temporary comfort that he found in her.

Blood filled eyes slowly shut, his lean head resting gently against her shoulder. He didn't want to move, never had he trusted in anyone other then himself this much.

Life was becoming much more confusing then it had previously been. It wasn't just rainbows and butterflies anymore.

It was turning out to be more.

At the sudden contact, her eyes widened a bit in surprise. Had she really not been expecting him to return her unusually sincere display of affection? Well, in way, she really hadn't. Perhaps a part of her had wished he wouldn't, as this made things difficult. If she wanted to stay with him, she'd have to give up her old life entirely, or the jealousy would surely drive him mad. But maybe she was getting ahead of herself, one little bit of contact didn't mean they were suddenly mated for life.

Though she'd heard that was a nice way to live out one's existance...

"Ether.." She murmured quietly, looking up at him with a wide and curious expression. Her eyes seemed to shimmer nervously, true windows to her soul and everything she tried to keep hidden from the world. It was the only way to tell how Ash was truly feeling, to look into her eyes. It had caused her more trouble than she'd thought it would, and it made her feel vulnerable. But she wanted him to see her, to know her beyond her casual and aloof facade.

"What are you thinking about, right now?" She asked innocently, though her words gave off the hint that if he was honest, she was trying to summon up the courage to do the same. She liked the feeling of just bathing in the warmth of his company, the musty scent of forest coating the heated surface of hair and skin that she rested against peacefully.
