just to spite

She glowed at night.

It was funny for a creature born of darkness, that within her element she would be illuminated so. She pondered it slightly as she glanced down into the mirror-like pool, wondering at how the moonlight set off the neon in her hair and banded across her coat. It wasn't vanity, just...curiosity. It kept her mind off of...other things.

Lime-acidic eyes danced away from the reflection and she flitted over the abandoned garden, hooves making a sharp rapping dance over the cracked marble. Sanguine had found this place for her, found or built or something. She couldn't really care about the means, as long as she was here, now. Somewhere she belonged.

She brushed past the fractured shadows, clear and cold-cast by the broken statues. Everything in this place was frigid white and deathly still, a garden of vines and flowers, wild and overgrown on marble stone of pools, statues, pagodas, fountains. Surrounded by a high wall and black grail gates.

Gates with no locks.

She paused by another clear and unmoved pool, tilting her head at the Venus de Milo mimic rising from its center. Only on certain nights...did she feel only a little lonely...

His soft muzzle gently bumped one of the gates, creaking it open in a slow, torturing manner. If he hadn't been moving, the mare standing before him might have easily dismissed him at a chipping statue.

The stallion's crimson hair was always flowing, melting into the air like ice into water. His equally crimson eyes took a minute to get adjusted to the bright neon tossed about her body.

A couple steps were taken inside this dark garden, his gaze drawn to one of the pools of water, staring blankly at the moon's reflection. It appeared to be trapped beneath the glassy surface. The occasional ripples muffling it's pleas for freedom. A twisted smirk made it's way across his muzzle, similar thoughts running through his head.

She didn't skitter away from the sudden creaking of the gate, a sound like a soul in torment. She merely watched with eyes both glowing and guarded as the stallion made his way to the pool, head once again tipped inquisitively. He moved with a warrior grace, familiar to her from her run-ins with Sanguine's bonded, but with a savage ethereality she had not enough experience to place yet.

She was curious, again. Not only for that air, but because he seemed like a power given life, something chained within a corporeal form. She had always been drawn to power, and to the chains that may bind it. They used to call her 'Pandora' in jest.

"Hi," she said simply, bluntly. She was young, and what little of her life she had lived had been in the keep of warriors. Roughness was almost a second nature to her, unsettling in her spritely build and face.

"Yo."

He saw the curiousity in her eyes... He had a way of noticing that kind of thing. The way people looked at him, as if he were some kind of interesting object on show in a musuem.

"Is there a problem?" His words didn't give off any sign of irritation, there seemed to be a hint of humour in his voice, though. He found it amusing, the way she looked at him.

An ear was flicked back, listening intently. It was quite clear to him that she wasn't about to break out the welcome wagon, but he felt the need to test the limits. How long could this conversation go without becoming dull? Timer starts... Now.

'Aaah, Ether Ether, don't go playing with people's heads again, yah hear?' He was mentally chuckling at himself. He was in a good mood, he couldn't help but act slightly insane.

She shrugged at his question and a hoof flicked out to touch the water, shattering the perfect night in its depths. "No, just looking. Do you have a problem with it?"

She seemed perfectly at ease with him being there, as sudden was his appearance. She didn't mention that he was slightly trespassing; this was her place after all, but she doubted he would do anything if he knew. She knew that she wouldn't, as foolish as it would seem. Besides, she wanted someone to talk to at the moment, not about anything in particular, more to hear the sound of voices again.

"Lock," she said suddenly, glancing into his shadowed eyes. "You?"

He smirked, shaking his head. Forlock swayed to and frau with his movements which appeared to hypnotize him for a moment.

"Nah, I get it alot."

It took him a moment to actually register what she was getting at, names... Lock, was it? Original, he wouldn't have guessed it for her. Although it did make her sound fairly solid.

"Ether, pleasure to make your aquantance(sp?) and all that jazz."
