"not always," the songhu apoligized. "they are simple creatures and can't always distingish things as clearly as they should. one of the Unkah (that's UN-kah, not oon kah) thought he saw a Brachnu about a week ago and they've been in a panic ever since. it was just a tree shadow o a rock but don't expect them to know that."
now that she was with friends and able to bounce ideas back and forth Sekyra felt much better. the worst part of war was being alone. Sekyra had found out that that was the worst of any experiance. it meant there were no destractions.
she leaned back and looked at the clay lovers. they DID seem scared. what they couldn't help was that they reminded her of weasels. they were long and thin and if they had any hair it was so slicked from their clay tunnels it looked like flesh. they were restless, which was not good for them. if they could learn to stay still they'd dissapear in this world.

the Songhu smiled kindly ad moved closer to where she lay. "i was with you, remember? the waesels that invaded your boat weren't drowned be accident."
"my old friend, you are remarkble."
it was true. the water creature resembled a wave held still, one that was shaped like a stallion. or at least a stallion up to the back legs. there it had a gently sloaping tail, one that was eerily simular to the tail of a dolphin. it was too slim, too streemlined for a whales tail and because it was propelled by vertical strokes it couldn't be from a shark. Talisrun main was what Sekyra had always loved the most though. it was ever shifting, ever flowing, as if caught in a constant breeze. with creatures such as the Brachnu there was no wonder the Songhu were selective. how much would such a creature fetch for the humans? Sekyra shuddered to think of it.
she owed her life to this creature. she knew all his secrets, even how he mated...and that was extremely interesting. Talisrun's personals were actually personals. he had a dozen or so little soldiers for mating that braided around themselves to increase fertility. that was why they mated so infrequently. if they didn't they'd be over populated. and she thought of him as a second father! it was almost funny because of the diferences.
after she'd been thrown out of the camp that had killed her parents the young Sekyra had run until she was exauhsted. hardly able to move she had collapsed by a stream where Talisrun had found her. he'd healed her with time and love and protected her when the Brachnu invaded the area. they had remained friends because the Songhu could go anywhere there was water. several times he'd saved her when it seemed her time had come to join her parents. she loved him greatly and would have done anything for him.
Sekyra rested by the sream for three days. when she left Talisrun had added more to her debt. he had helped her come to a desision.
