Smiling, Songhue knelt next to her friend and gently brushed her hair back, loving her tenderness and wondering what it would have been like to have this same innocence on a child that was her own. Wolfy was truly a treasure.

"It is different for all of us, and how we deal with it's different as well. I have to face mine and fight it. My own is a temptation to become what destroyed my home. Yours may not be. It's all just self exploration. My best friend, Tsuni, She had one where she'd sit and talk to it for hours. It was her secret hopes, and it kept making it hard for her to appretiate what was. When she'd really understood it, she could love what she had and still hope for more. We're different, that's all, it doesn't mean it's a let down."

With a motion of her hand she sat back and a gentle trickle of water floated through an open window to slip easily into Wolfy's throat. The first time a shadow was called forth was always the hardest as well as the most taxing but it also taught the most.

"Now, sit up and listen. This lesson wasn't waisted, you simply need to think about it. Think about what it revealed to you about yourself, and think about what it means to you to be able to take these steps on your own now. You might be a little unsteady the first time you try it on your own, but you know the steps so you don't need me any more. But don't say anything; think about it, turn it over, but don't share anything. This is your business, not mine. When you feel better we can go out and get some fresh air."

It was good to feel useful agian. And it felt good to be a friend. She couldn't stop smiling, and with an effort she managed not to hug herself. Wolfy should think about things first, then they could go and just wander around, just be together without worries of pressure or expectations. That, too, would be good.

Smiling a little, Storm thankfully swallowed the moisture.
"Your friend's shadow would make mine happier if they met I think. I also think your shadow is kin of mine. Such hard busy painful lives... Do we ever heal from it? Or is that what makes us forget what and who we are? That is something I rather fear. The forgetting."
She sat up and crossed her legs in a oft used yoga position and leaned with her elbows on her knees.
"But I Also worry that in holding onto things that were only meant to teach us once, we're stunting our growth forward as well. Does that make any sense?" She said thoughtfully.

It did. It made more since than Songhue was willing to admit. But these lessons had to be learned on one's own, at least when you were taught by a wind sprite.

"Think on it," she instructed, "Learn what you can from yourself. This is self exploration; I'm not allowed to do more than guide you. And the last time I saw my friend she had a tunnel through her thigh, made by an exploding arrow."

On that grim note she climbed to her feet and opened a window, smiling at the slight breeze that played over her features. The past was past. Now she had a friend that needed help to think things through.

"So Wolfy, where did you want to go? If we're going walking I'm ready. And it should help you think a little clearer."

She thought about that. Her eyes took on a sad inward look when Songhue told her about her pain and the pain of her friend.
"I am sorry to hear about what happened to your friend. I've never seen an exploding arrow but I've seen more than I care to think about in the way of destruction... The last days of my original home world were...." her voice cracked and she looked down at her hands until she could speak again... "They were very... Unpleasant."

At Songhue's mention of going for a walk, Storm grinned broadly...
"I'm always up for getting outside. Too much time indoors makes the wolf in me edgy and feel like the walls are closing in. And sometimes I do my best thinking when I Stop thinking." She gave a rueful chuckle and smiled happily when she felt the fresh air brush her face... Her nostrils flaired as she tested the air, smelling the grass and the moisture and the Life outside the walls around her. She hugged herself willing the darkness to abait in the wait of the healing fresh air. She wasn't so different from the wind sprite, not really... Just the flip side of the same coin more likely.

Past was past as Songhue so often told herself. Now, she wanted to go walking with her friend. Chuckling, she shifted into the white wolf agian and leaped through the window, glancing back at Wolfy.

"You're the one who's new, and you're the one who needs to think, so why don't you lead? Sometimes your feet can lead you to the answer."

With a smile she sat and waited, wondering what would come next on this road she was on.

Storm gave a slight 'hurrowf' and wolfed. Luckily since she hadn't actually been wearing anything there wasn't a puddle of clothing to keep track of. The big wolf jumped through the window and did a belly whomp hitting the grass; rolling to get rid of the itchies.
"Excuse.... Please..."
"Hruffwuff grrr hruff ahhhh I love the feel of dewy grassy on my fur!" She riggled and wiggled delightedly in the grass before standing up again and shaking herself thoroughly making the fur puff in little spikes from the dampness all over her. She let her tongue hang just a little out of her mouth in what was obviously a big wolfy grin.
"Sooo much better to be outside." She looked around and raised her head to test the air... "I smelll summer coming! Warm sunlight and dark brown earth... Trees... and flowers with wide black hearts turning with the sun's walk across the bright wild blue sky... Yes, it's almost time to shed winter fur and dance with the fireflies. And fish! Oh it's almost time for spawning... and crayfish..." Her mind raced beyond the moment and into when she could play in the water again with out ice packing her pads. Her eyes squinted at the sun and in a moment she took off at a run with a bark of delight... She ran in the shadow of a pair of hawks trying to race them.
