Isolation

Post by Songhue »

Songhue perched high in the tree, gazing over the lands with a sad eye. This new land, this place of her beloved serians, Sionayra, was usually full of life and joy. As of late there had been nothing to see, no one to watch. The land of magic was becoming barren. If there were still others about then it was time for a gathering, time to see who remained. If none were to be found then she and her darlings would have to find somewhere new.

With a heave the golden eagle took flight and let her voice ring, calling for others. The afternoon was bleak and overcast, a chill wind ruffling her feathers and trying to knock her off course. It was not the best day to search for others, yet she feared she may have already waited too long.

Sighing, a large wolf-dog trotted down a small deer path that wound out of the forest and in to the open fields. For a while now no one was to be seen all around these lands but, as the warmer months grew closer, there was a stiring in the air of unease and impatience of things wakeing from a deep sound silence. As the wolf-dog felt the urge to seek others and meet the new and old friends, she heard a light breeze whisper in the trees. A lonely call sounded as the wolf-dog came to open land, waiting for a response. Any response. Calmly crouching on her haunches, she calmly howled a forlorn call in answer.

She thought.. But no, the chances were small. For a mere moment Songhue had thought she'd heard the call of a hound, a distinct answer over the howling wind. Circling, she glided lower, head tilted as the wind eased beneath the branches.

There had been something, some murmuring echo fading through the leaves... Perhaps there were others yet.

A small chirp found her in an open glade, the clouds breaking enough to show a bit of light and what may have been the source of the echo. A medium sized hound was resting in the dim light, and Songhue thought looking rather downcast.

It was another life at least, though not one she was familiar with. A small flutter showed her hesitation at this stranger. She was normally far from sociable, remaining in the shadows to watch in silence. Still, it was long passed time for a gathering--This was no time to be wary.

A shimmer as she landed showed a pure white she-wolf, a form more familiar to the creature she now faced. Hopefully this was a sign that this beautiful home of her lovelies was not yet as bare as she'd feared. Still, she paced a few laps before getting any closer, always keeping her eyes on this other. Her history was heavy and hard to be rid of.

With a small snuffling noise she finally approached, her long, flowing tail giving a small wag. Her serians were far more important than being shy. It was the only reason she would ever be so forward.

"Greetings, stranger."

With those simple words she tucked one paw against her chest and lowered herself in an obvious bow. It would suffice, for now, yet she hoped that this was not the only other creature to be found.

Quietly noting a large bird gliding through the breeze, the wolf-dog studied a small but very colorful inch worm, noticing that out of her peripheral vision, she watched the bird wander closer. A sudden gust caught her off gaurd and a small cloud of dust blew in to her golden/amber eyes, making her close them and use her paw to scratch at her eyes in annoyance. Feeling something close to her, the wolf-dog turned and stared at an out-of-season-white she-wolf. The golden bird was no where to be seen, but a white she-wolf out of nothing? That was something to question.

Seeing a slight hesitation, the she-wolf spoke, then eyeing her carefully, the wolf made an almost human bow!

Bounding around the white wolf, the wolf-dog quickly sat down and spoke slowly in an unsure way, "Hello sister wolf morpher."

As she straightened up once again a small grin could be read in Songhue's eyes. This stranger bounding around her in such exuberance, this other wolf creature, was amusingly cute.

"My name is Songhue, dear, by what may I call you? Please pardon the dust, wind is a common companian when flying."

And with that, the quiet spoken white wolf gathered her legs beneath her to launch herself in a play tackle with this other. For a few moments at least she could be young again, could play.

Noteing a happy spakle in Songhue's eyes, and panting said, "I am Storm's Fury. Most that I know call me Fury." Thwak! Yelping in surprise that the older wolf had takled her over backwards, she quickly wiggled out from under her and nosed her side before jumping and landing running toward the south, with the wind blowing in to her ruff.
